To be fair, if homeopathy were correct, wouldn't an underdose be more dangerous than an overdose?
Yes! In fact the MOST dangerous thing you can do is not take any. I hope you aren't taking that risk right this very moment.
I am totally stunned whenever I hear of homeopaths that also practice ayurvedic as they represent diametrically opposite principals in their supposed action. With homeopathy less active ingredients are suppose to be more effective while in ayurvedic it is not uncommon to find "medicines" containing toxic levels of arsenic and mercury. It is believed that heavy metals are theraputic in ayurvedic.
Of course the reality is both operate on same basic principle - BS.
I guess I should back up my previous post: http://jama.ama-assn.org/content/292/23/2868.abstract
How about a follow up with a visit to a poison control center--or a call. Ask them what they do if someone overdoses on homeopathic "medicine." You could also interview an emergency room doctor and ask them what they would do if someone came in saying they had swallowed an entire bottle of homeopathic sleeping pills.
Carol: The problem there is alot of AltMeds hijack the homeopathic name, but in fact have real ingrediants in them. They even sneak in prescription meds sometimes. So you actually can OD on "homeopathic" medicine.
